    The View From My Bed

This is the view from my bed out into the hallway.  Can you handle the excitement?  Duke, my guide/service dog can’t come here to work because the management chose to not follow the law and let him, so I spend about 90% of my time in bed, or sitting next to my bed in a wheelchair I can’t move.  It gets more than a bit boring after two months!  (Not including the five and a half week hospital stay.)  Especially when it’s busy and everyone else is going about their day.

Is it just yourself in your room at this point?

Yes, I’ve had a private room since the management decided that Duke could come here. Within days after I was moved they said he couldn’t…

If it was me I’d definitely prefer to share a room, so I’d have someone to talk to and be less bored.

I have a suggestion that I’m not quite sure where to put, so I’ll just put it here. I highly recommend that anyone following Kim here watch the “Couch Incident” video blog on WildKat TV. It gives added perspective and context for the current situation.

After sharing a room with many people I’d rather have my own. I don’t mind having roommates, but some of them can be… interesting…

I’ll have to make a new video. I am planning on adding some to this blog once I get a good reliable internet connection. (I’m suppose to on the 11th).

    Bingo Times Two!

Today has been pretty dull for the most part.  My PT and OT had rounds, so I didn’t have any therapies.  I slept a lot, watched some TV, browsed the Internet and that about sums up most of the day.  There was Bingo at 7PM though and there was a new Recreational Therapist with Joe (the RT that does the Bingo) and she helped me with my cards.  She’s a keeper because we won twice lol!  I got two pairs of socks and a notepad.  I picked out cups the first time, but I couldn’t hold them on and the second time I chose pens, but they had a rubber grip.  That wouldn’t have ended well with my latex allergy and all!  It was a lot quieter without Ray there to shout out Bingo though.  He went home yesterday.

I do have an appointment with my OT and the seating person tomorrow though and I’m really hoping it goes well and I have a demo chair I can use on my own soon and that the powers that be here  comes to their senses and let Duke work here very soon!  As always, I would appreciate any luck you could send mine and Duke’s way!

I was up in the mountains yesterday, and from the same spot I had a good view of both Duke Mountain and Kimberly Peak (no, I’m really not making this up; I have the pics to prove it). Of course I was thinking of you both and interpreting this as a good omen. I wish it so, anyway.

😀 I like the area you are talking about! I really truly hope you are right and it is a good omen!

    What Glued The Plate Down?

Today has been pretty dull.  My mom and step-dad did come in for a visit earlier today and brought me in some food, but other than that I’ve spent the rest of the day as I did yesterday, in bed.  I did get up to have a shower yesterday, but unless I have therapies there is not much point in getting out of bed.  When I do it is just to sit in a wheelchair that is not my own next to my bed because the manager won’t allow me to have my guide/service dog Duke here to work with me.  At least if I’m in bed I can move my body around a bit and try to sleep away some of the time even if it does backfire on me because then I am awake most of the night!

I did have a curious situation with my soup at supper time though.  My plate was stuck to the tray like someone had glued it on!  After trying to move it pretty forcefully it finally came loose. It seemed that something had spilled on the tray and dried effectively glueing the plate and mug onto the tray.  After eating the two small chicken strips and a couple of forkfuls of mashed potato I decided to find out what kind of soup was on the tray.  At the bottom of the bowl sat about a spoonful of soup!  It seems the beef and barley soup was the culprit.  I’m still left to wonder if there is only a spoonful of actual ingredients in the soup, or if there is more liquid than I had originally thought though because there was nothing on the tray but dried liquid.  Did someone clean it up or did it spill onto the floor or another area besides the tray?  Also, why put the basically empty bowl back on the tray to begin with?

Well, at least that beef and barley soup is useful for something. Apparently it makes great glue! Good to know.

LOL, yes if you ever need a leg glued onto a table or something just whip up a pot of beef and barley soup!

I May Be Full, But The Management Is Full Of Something Else!

I am so full right now I can barely even type!  Thank you Mom!  My breakfast, dinner and supper trays were not what I had ordered today.  I think it may have been a day I didn’t even get a menu for.  I had a sandwich brought up from downstairs at 12:30PM thanks to the nurse who asked if I wanted one when I couldn’t eat anything on my tray (macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, pea soup and a blueberry crisp) and didn’t have anything else until after 7PM when I started eating the cooked supper my mom brought me.  It was o good!  I’m not use to flavor anymore lol.

My step-dad also brought me the TV that was in the rec room in their basement.  He was going to bring mr one of mine, but didn’t have time to stop at my apt. for long when he was there.  At least now I have something besides the internet to keep me occupied for a while since the management is making me spend all of my time in bed or sitting in the one place by not allowing Duke, my guide/service dog to work here.  They will have to eventually.  They are choosing to do things the hard way, but I am never going to give up!  Wish Duke and I lots of luck!  We shouldn’t need it, but it can’t hurt.

Wishing you and Duke luck. But I think it’s always your unrelenting persistence that makes stuff happen!
